Dr. Arif Alvi Father Was Jawaharlal Nehru’s Dentist


President Dr. Arif Alvi father was the dentist of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru

Dr Arif Alvi, the 13th president of Pakistan is a dentist by profession.

According to the short biography of Dr. Arif Alvi as posted on the website of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, “He has been recognised as one of the leading dentists in Karachi. His father Dr Habib ur Rehman Elahi Alvi who practiced dentistry in India migrated to Pakistan in 1947 and opened a dental practice in Saddar, Karachi.”

it also added, “Dr. Elahi Alvi was a dentist to Jawaharlal Nehru and the family has letters from Nehru to Dr. Alvi in their possession.”

Dr. Arif Alvi is the third president of the country whose family migrated to Pakistan from India after Partition.

Outgoing President Mamnoon Hussain’s family came from Agra, India. Parents of former president Pervez Musharraf migrated from New Delhi.

Born in 1949 and a dentist by profession, Dr. Arif Alvi is among the founding members of the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf.
