Dubai Based Jeweller Displays Gem-studded $ 17m Shoes on Sale and Buyers are Ecstatic
There is one way to rock a glamorous event – wearing the perfect set of heels embellished with gold silk and diamonds.
Gold, silk and hundreds of diamonds are attached in this Dubai-based shoemaker’s latest creation. The shoes recently made their debut in Dubai’s Burj-ul-Arab hotel and sent buyers into a frenzy. Moreover, the shoes are now the world’s most expensive shoes with a whopping price tag of US $ 17 million.
They are currently displayed in a diamond-shaped glass case, on the top floor of the hotel. The pair of pumps are made of golden leather and decorated with more than 100 carats of flawless diamonds, as well as two D-flawless diamonds set on white gold.
The chief executive of Passion Jewelers, Hemani Karamchandani said, “We can see some potential buyers here, Dubai is the city of millionaires and billionaires.” The brand has made a variety of ultra-luxury shoes before this pair.
“In the future, we will custom design and provide bespoke (shoes) … not only diamonds but rubies and sapphires,” he continued.
The idea for making these expensive shoes came from Karamchandani’s partner, a 26-year-old British-Romanian woman named Maria Majari. Maria has studied fashion in Dubai and London. She shared the idea when she noticed a gap in the shoe market, where ultra high-end clothes and bags were widely bought, but not shoes.
“Dubai is the city of millionaires and billionaires… we see it as a potential market, along with the entire (Gulf) region,” Hemant Karamchandani further said.
This pair of shoes are an European size of 36 (US 5.5, UK 3.5) and can be custom-made to the client’s size — after he or she pays the full selling price. There will also be no negotiations on the price tag.
