The Election Commission of Pakistan has appointed Alauddin Marri as the caretaker chief minister of Balochistan on Thursday.
Alauddin Marri hails from Mastung district of Balochistan. He was recommended by the former provincial government.
Name of Sardar Shaukat Popalzai was also recommended by previous government for caretaker chief minister post.
Names of Mohammad Aslam Bhutani and Ashraf Jahangir Qazi were also suggested by former government.
However, the final decision about caretaker chief minister for Baluchistan was handed over to the ECP after parliamentary committee failed to make a call.
The meeting of parliamentary committee members was held on June 6th to decide about the caretaker chief minister but it was unsuccessful.
Members of the former government boycotted the session after former chief minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo claimed that the suggested candidates for the parliamentary committee were controversial.
The six-member parliamentary committee had comprised of government representatives Sarfraz Chakar Domki, Tahir Mahmood Khan, Amanullah Notezai and opposition members include Nawab Sanaullah Zehri, Dr Abdul Maalik Baloch and Liaquat Agha.
