Indian Movies Banned During Eid To Promote Local Film Industry

ISLAMABAD: Federal Government has just placed a restriction of previewing Indian movies in cinemas during Eid.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued the notification which will ban Indian movies in cinemas during Eid. The reason to put the restriction on the movies is to promote local film industry.

The restriction on the screening is to be placed on both Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha. The ban starts two days ahead of the Eids and lasts till two weeks after.


During Eid, people usually crowd entertainment places, such as restaurants and cinemas. So Government wants the screening of local films to promote the country’s film industries and its work.

The importers and distributors of the Indian movies have been ordered to restrain from the screening the movies in cinema houses all over the country for the duration mentioned on the notification.
