Heavy rainfall in Karachi caused Thado Dam to overflow, leading to flooding in Lath Naddi. As a result, water from the Malir nadi and Lyari nadi entered nearby residential areas, submerging several localities.
Malir Nadi Situation
Due to strong flood currents, the M-9 Motorway near Jamali Bridge went underwater, suspending traffic. Officials confirmed that the central wall of M-9 is being broken to allow water passage and control the flow. In Jam Goth Malir, Bhutto Highway was washed away. Several areas, including FB Area, Shafiq Colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Sohrab Goth, and Machar Colony, reported water entering homes with levels rising up to 4–5 feet.
Lyari Nadi Situation
The overflow of Lyari nadi caused flooding in multiple Karachi localities. Residents in Saadi Town, Goharabad, Sohrab Goth, and Machar Colony were trapped inside their homes. According to rescue teams, dozens of people, including children and the elderly, were shifted to safer places.

After the Karachi flood, the land surrounding the Al-Habib Restaurant located along the Super Highway was flooded leaving Karachi-Hyderabad traffic in a complete jam.
On the instructions of the Sindh Chief Minister, emergency teams have been deployed. Motorway Police stated that traffic from Hyderabad to Karachi is being diverted to Model Road, while vehicles from Karachi to Hyderabad are being redirected back from Sabzi Mandi cut. Relief efforts continue as floodwater remains in Malir and Lyari areas.
