Security Tightened in Major Cities in Pakistan on Occasion of Youm-e-Ali


Security preparations have been beefed up due to the occasion of Youm-e-Ali in all major cities of Pakistan.

Traffic Police and security forces have prepared plans for the security ahead of the day in all the big cities of the State.  Youm-e-Ali is observed on 21st of Ramadan, which will be the 6th of June according to Gregorian calendar.

In Karachi at least 5,572 officers and constables have been directed to perform duties on Youm-e-Ali. Sindh Police sources said that around 72 police mobiles and 65 motorcycles along with 7 armored vehicles are also part of the security plan.

IG Sindh, AD Khawaja has instructed officers to make sure the security around Imambargahs is tightened on the occasion.

Caretaker Sindh CM Fazlur Rehman reviewed the security arrangements for Youm-e-Ali in a meeting.

Inspector General Sindh said the number of sensitive imambargahs is 40.

CM Sindh also instructed the police force to remove any walk chalking, banners and posters that promote hate.

In Rawalpindi around 3,000 police personnel will be posted to protect the main Youm-e-Ali (RA) procession. The procession will begin from Mohanpura late Tuesday night.

CCTV cameras have also been installed on the routes the procession is going to take. Bomb disposal squad is to inspect the whole route before the procession is to start. While walkthrough gates will be placed at entry points of the procession to ensure security.

Security forces in Lahore are to take special measures for the observance of Youm-e-Ali.

According to police forces in Lahore, additional police officers along with personnel of Dolphin will perform security duty at the central procession.

The central procession is to start from the Imambargah Mubarak Haveli, inside Akbari Mandi. Snipers have been posted on rooftops of the route of the central procession.
