KARACHI: Sindh, KP and Balochistan government and oppositions could not agree on names of Caretaker CM for the provinces.
The meetings between the CMs and Opposition leaders of the assemblies of Sindh, KP and Balochistan could not reach consensus. No province other than Punjab have named a caretaker CM as of yet.
The opposition leader of Sindh Assembly before being dissolved on 29 May, Khawaja Izharul Hassan said ECP will decide caretaker CM. He said that after a meeting between CM Murad Ali Shah and him could not happen.
PPP has nominated former chief secretary Ghulam Ali Shah Pasha and senior party leader Dr Qayoom Soomro for caretaker CM. Opposition has named Aftab Sheikh from the MQM, Ghous Ali Shah from PML-F, and Justice (retd) Amir Hani Muslim from PTI.
CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervaiz Khattak and the opposition leader also failed to reach a consensus in their meeting on Tuesday. Sources had claimed that businessman Manzoor Afridi was nominated for caretaker CM. However; afterwards sources also claimed that Imran Khan had rejected name of Manzoor Afridi.
In Balochistan, after a deadlock on decision between opposition and government, the matter will be solved by parliamentary committee.
The Punjab government and opposition agreed to appoint Nasir Mahmood Khosa as the caretaker chief minister of Punjab. The meeting on Monday between CM Shehbaz Sharif and Mian Mehmood ur Rashid bore fruit.
On Monday, Khursheed Shah announced name of Justice (r) Nasir-ul-Mulk as the caretaker PM of Pakistan. The decision was announced in a press conference in which premiere Khaqan Abbasi was also present along with Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
Political parties had hailed the decision of appointing of the former CJP as the caretaker PM.
