100 EU observers will monitor Pakistan Election 2018


Islamabad: 100 European Union (EU) observers will monitor the Pakistan Election 2018 on July 25.

According to sources, EU EOM comprises of 100 observers who will monitor the Pakistan Election 2018. Their responsibility will be to observe different aspects of election. In addition they will also analyze the compliance of elections according to the law of Pakistan and international democratic policies.

EU EOM is working in Islamabad since June 24. It was deployed after ECP welcomed their presence for the general elections.

Soon after Pakistan Election 2018 on July 25, they will issue preliminary statement on July 27. However, they will stay in Pakistan till September for the preparation of final report. The report will be published two months later.

EU Election Observation’s main purposes are to enhance public confidence in the electoral process, support the democratic process in partner countries, and enhance respect for human rights and rule of law.

However, some forces are trying to affect the General Election 2018 with terrorist activities. NACTA revealed name of six key politicians under threat. However, they could become a victim of terrorist attack during Pakistan Election 2018. PTI Chief Imran Khan, Hafiz Saeed’s son Talha Saeed, and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl leader Akram Khan Dur­rani are under threat. Qaumi Watan Party Chief Aftab Sherpao and Awami National Party leaders Ameer Haider Hoti, Asfandyar Wali also have security threats during General Election 2018.
