Karachi’s traffic police have announced a detailed traffic plan for the processions on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, expected to cause several road closures across the city.
12 Rabi-ul-Awwal Juloos Routes:
Three major processions will take place along M.A. Jinnah Road, a central artery of the city. The first procession will start from Kharadar Mosque at 2:30 PM and end at Gulzar Habib Mosque. The second will begin at Memon Mosque and end at Aram Bagh Mosque. The third will also start at Memon Mosque, Kharadar, and will conclude at Nishtar Park.
Roads to be Closed on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal:
- M.A. Jinnah Road will be completely closed during the processions.
- Streets adjacent to the procession routes will also be blocked for traffic.
Diversion Routes:
- Traffic from M.R. Kiyani Chowk will be diverted to Court Road.
- From Empress Market, traffic will be directed towards Zebunnisa Street.
- Vehicles coming via Shahrah-e-Liaquat will be redirected at Aram Bagh to Shaheen Complex.
- Traffic from University Road will be sent towards Kashmir Road via Jail Flyover.
Other Important Diversions:
- Traffic approaching People’s Chowrangi will be diverted to Shahrah-e-Quaideen or Corridor 3 towards Saddar.
- Vehicles from Guru Mandir heading towards M.A. Jinnah Road will be diverted to Central Jail.
- No traffic from Lasbela will be allowed to enter M.A. Jinnah Road.
Security Measures:
Over 3,000 police personnel will be deployed along the procession routes. Bomb disposal squads will ensure safety, and additional officers will be stationed on rooftops of tall buildings along the processions’ paths.
For residents and commuters, it’s advisable to plan routes accordingly and avoid areas surrounding M.A. Jinnah Road on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal.
