18th Amendment: SC dismissed plea of Sindh govt


The Supreme Court of Pakistan dismissed the petition of Sindh government related to the 18th Amendment in Constitution of Pakistan.

18th Amendment plea of Sindh government was rejected by Sindh govt. CJP Saqib Nisar announced the decision and wrapped up the said case. However, Supreme Court’s detailed verdict will provide the reasons for dismissal of plea.

Earlier, the Sindh government filed the petition in Supreme Court related to the provincial authority in 18th Amendment. However, on 8th April 2010, the amendment was passed and divested the President of Pakistan of all his executive authority and made him a ceremonial head of state.

In addition, the amendment also caused the name change of NWFP or North West Frontier Province to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and provided provinces power from the Center.
