In Pakistan, December 25 holds a special place as it marks the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of the nation. Commonly called “Quaid-e-Azam Day” or “Jinnah Day,” this significant day is a public holiday across the country.

The government, through its 2024 public holiday schedule, confirmed that December 25, a Wednesday this year, is a nationwide holiday. Interestingly, this day also aligns with Christmas, giving Christian communities in Pakistan the opportunity to celebrate both events. For Christian employees, December 26 has also been announced as a public holiday, as stated in a Cabinet Division notification.

The Sindh government has taken proactive steps by officially declaring December 25 a holiday for all government offices. Banks across Pakistan will remain closed as well, according to the State Bank of Pakistan’s notification.

Each year, December 25 is celebrated with great enthusiasm to honor Quaid-e-Azam’s contributions to Pakistan’s independence. Special ceremonies are held nationwide to pay tribute to his leadership and vision. People from all walks of life participate in these events to remember and appreciate the relentless efforts of the man who made Pakistan a reality.

This day is not just about remembrance but also about unity, as it brings together diverse communities to celebrate the legacy of Jinnah. Whether attending ceremonies or simply reflecting on his achievements, Pakistanis recognize this day as a cornerstone of the country’s history.
