ISLAMABAD: After 5 years, the PML-N Federal Government will end its tenure by tonight midnight.
The Federal Government, in which PML-N was the ruling party, ends its 5 year tenure tonight, midnight.
The National Assembly will be dissolved at midnight tonight after which the Caretaker Setup will take over. The caretaker government is to conduct fair and transparent elections on 25th July as recommended by ECP. Balochistan and Punjab Assemblies will also be dissolved tonight as well.
This is the first in Pakistan’s history that a second consecutive democratic government finishes its constitutional term of 5 years.
PM Khaqan Abbasi is expected to hold farewell meetings with staff and other officers before the tenure ends. He will also be presented with a salute by a contingency of Pakistan Armed Forces when he leaves office.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Khursheed Shah have announced former CJP Justice (r) Nasir-ul-Mulk as Caretaker PM.
Farewell session of the National Assembly will also be held today before its five-year term ends at midnight.
During session, all the lawmakers will inform everyone of their five year’s performances. 56 sessions of the National Assembly have been conducted since June 1, 2013 till today.
