As the holy month of Ramadan is expected to commence on March 12th in the United Arab Emirates, residents are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holidays. According to Arab media reports, the possibility of Ramadan lasting for the full 30 days has raised expectations of a 6-day break for employees to celebrate Eid.
In the potential scenario where Ramadan extends to 30 days, the culmination of this sacred month is projected to be on April 10th. The government of the UAE has already announced official holidays for both public and private sectors, beginning from the 29th of Ramadan and continuing until the 3rd of Shawwal.
This means that if all unfolds as expected, the official holidays will conclude on April 13th (Sunday), giving employees a well-deserved 6-day break. With the last day of holidays falling on a Sunday, it provides an extended period for individuals to celebrate and enjoy the festive occasion.
Reports suggest that the official announcement for the beginning of Ramadan, determined by the sighting of the crescent, is scheduled for March 10th. Should the crescent be visible, fasting will commence on March 11th, while the start of Ramadan is expected to be on March 12th if the moon sighting is not confirmed.
In addition to the festive atmosphere, it’s noteworthy that the duration of fasting during the initial days of Ramadan in Dubai is estimated to be approximately 13 hours and 45 minutes. This duration is expected to gradually extend to nearly 14 hours and 25 minutes as the month progresses.
As families and communities eagerly await the confirmation of the crescent, the prospect of an extended Eid holiday break brings joy and excitement, offering a welcome respite for all to observe and celebrate this special time together.
