60 Trained Officers Join Islamabad’s New Cybercrime Unit to Combat Online Fraud and Hacking

In a significant move to bolster the fight against cybercrimes, Islamabad Police has officially launched the Cyber Crime Investigation Unit, a newly inaugurated initiative aimed at tackling the growing challenges in the digital realm.

This milestone development follows recent amendments to the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), granting Islamabad Police the authority to register cybercrime cases under Section 30.

To enhance their capabilities, Islamabad Police has forged a strategic partnership with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). This collaboration aims to tap into the technical expertise of the FIA, providing crucial support for investigating cybercrimes.

The joint efforts between Islamabad Police and FIA designed to confront the intricate challenges posed by cyber threats, ensuring a robust response to the ever-evolving landscape of digital offenses.

A crucial step forward in this initiative is the successful completion of the first phase of training for 60 officers from Islamabad Police. Conducted in collaboration with the FIA, this training equips officers with specialized knowledge and tools essential for effective cybercrime investigations. Notably, the Cyber Crime Investigation Center has established at the F-6 Service Center to centralize and streamline these efforts.
