Accountability Court rejected the petition about the transferring of Al Azizia Reference from Muhammad Bashir’s court.
The Accountability Court dismissed the petition about the transferring of Al Azizia Reference against Nawaz Sharif and his family. However, the petition is about the transfer of petition from Judge Bashir’s court.
Earlier, Supreme Court gave the 6 weeks extension to Accountability Court to resolve the corruption references against Nawaz Sharif and former finance minister Ishaq Dar. Supreme Court gave the extension in Nawaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar’s references after the Accountability Court’s judge Mohammad Bashir requested for the extension in deadline. However, he asked the apex for the extension in references against former PM Nawaz Sharif and his family. CJP Saqib Nisar and Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan heard the extension petition.
During the hearing, Khawaja Haris, Nawaz’s counsel, raised his objection over the hearing of remaining references against the former PM. He said that the hearing is not fair as court already given the verdict in Avenfield reference. However, Justice Ahsan remarked that the Avenfield and other two references are not similar. The court then gave the trial court six weeks to conclude the cases.
