Accountability Court summoned Nawaz Sharif in pending cases on Monday


Islamabad: Accountability Court II summoned former PM and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif on Monday in remaining corruption cases.

Accountability Court II summoned Nawaz Sharif on August 13 (Monday) in Flagship and Al-Azizia cases. The court earlier took up pending references against Nawaz Sharif and his family.

Accountability Court II Judge Arshad Malik is hearing Flagship and Al-Azizia cases against Nawaz Sharif and his family. He summoned former PM on Monday and ordered the prosecution to present its key witness and Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT) head Wajid Zia on the next hearing.

On Tuesday, Islamabad High Court (IHC) transferred cases to the Accountability Court II. Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Aamer Farooq ordered to transfer cases on Nawaz Sharis’s petition.

Court earlier accepted the Nawaz Sharif’s application to transfer Flagship Investment and Al Aziziz reference from Judge Muhammad Bashir to another court. Sharif family also submitted plea against Avenfield case conviction.

However, the Avenfield Reference verdict came against Nawaz Sharif and his family. The Accountability Court sentenced the imprisonment of 10, 7, and 1 year to Nawaz, Maryam, and Captain Safdar (retd) respectively. The court also fined Nawaz Sharif and Maryam 8 million and 2 million Pounds respectively. All three leaders later moved to Adiala Jail Rawalpindi.
