Islamabad: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif is en route to Islamabad from Lahore.
Nawaz Sharif will appear before the Accountability Court on Thursday (today) in Al Azizia and Flagship References.
Accountability court II Judge Arshad Malik will hear the Flagship Investment and Al Azizia Steel Mills corruption cases. In addition, Nawaz’s counsel, Khawaja Haris, will resume to cross-examining investigation officer Mehboob Alam.
On September 25, Khawaja Haris completed the cross-examination process of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) key witness Wajid Zia and Panamagate joint investigation team (JIT) head. Nawaz Sharif was exempted from the appearance in court for 2 days due to the death of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. However, he ordered to appear today.
Earlier, Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended the jail term of former PM Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Captain (retd) Safdar in the Avenfield case.
Justice Miangul Hassan and Justice Athar Minallah gave the decision on the plea submitted by Nawaz Sharif and family in the Avenfield case. However, all three were also ordered to submit bail bonds of Rs 0.5 million each.
