Al Azizia Reference: Wajid Zia Completed Testimony Against Nawaz Sharif

Islamabad: Wajid Zia concluded the final testimony in today’s hearing of Al Azizia Reference.

Wajid Zia recorded his final statement in Al Azizia Reference. However, Al Azizia Reference is a case against Nawaz Sharif and his family. Former PM and his family are confronting three defilement cases that are Al Azizia reference, Flagship, and Avenfield. In the Accountability Court after NAB recorded references against them in light of the Supreme Court’s decision in the Panama Papers case a year ago. However, Wajid Zia, who headed the Panama case JIT that examined the Sharif family’s benefits a year ago. Now, it has just affirmed in the Avenfield properties reference.

Sardar Muzaffar, NAB Prosecutor requested the court to record the statement of Nawaz Sharif and his family in the Avenfield case.


The court reserved its decision on the matter after Nawaz’s counsel Abbasi and Khawaja Haris completed their arguments.

Wajid Zia started recording his testimony on Thursday. In addition, Wajid Zia also informed the court about the JIT’s correspondence regarding the steel mills in the Gulf region.

On May 11, Wajid Zia exhibited subtle elements of cheques given by Nawaz Sharif to his daughter Maryam. On March 27, Nawaz gave Maryam a cheque of Rs40 million, on February 14 one of Rs5 million and a Rs37 million cheque on May 10, 2016, was given.

Earlier, Accountability Court-I Judge Mohammad Bashir had commented that the court’s verdict against three references will be announced together. Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar are accused in the Avenfield reference. However, Nawaz Sharif, Hassan Nawaz, and Hussain Nawaz are accused in all three references. The trial was initially began on 14 September 2017.
