WASHINGTON: Ali Jahangir, while under embezzlement charges, will take charge as Pakistani Ambassador to US. He will take charge as the Pakistan’s envoy in the first week of June.
Pakistan’s current ambassador in Washington, Aizaz Chaudry, stated in a new release, letters of Jahangir’s appointment have been received. He said that the new agreement has been received by Pakistani embassy and after being approved Jahangir will be appointed.
The US Department of State has also approved of the appointment of Ali Jahangir as the new ambassador of Pakistan to US. Aizaz Chaudry also stated that he has served Pakistan with honor and dignity and is ready to step down now.
Ali Jahangir, In August 2017, was appointed as a special assistant to the Prime Minister with the status of a state minister. He is the son of the famous banker and businessman, Jahangir Siddiqui.
Siddiqui holds a BA in Economics that he received from Cornell University, US. Ali Jahangir has served as a director in Airblue, Lucky Cement, Azgard Nine along with many companies. In 2014, he was also awarded as the Young Global Leader by World Economic Forum.
