Another Building Roof Collapses in Lyari: 2 Women Dead, 3 Injured

A six-storey residential building’s roof collapsed near Fayyaz Peshawari Hotel and Bilal Masjid in Lyari Khadda Market, Karachi, resulting in the death of 2 women and injuries to 3 individuals.

According to police and rescue sources, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Baghdadi Police Station. Emergency teams reached the site and began rescue operations. The deceased and injured have been shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi. Police confirmed that the building has been fully evacuated.

The injured victims include 40-year-old Sakina, 18-year-old Hajra, and 22-year-old Jaweria, as per Edhi Foundation. The identities of the deceased women are under process. DIG South stated that the women who lost their lives were sisters and the injured are their daughters, who are currently receiving medical treatment.

Initial investigation suggests that the building was in poor condition and the rusted steel structure had separated from the concrete.

Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani took notice of the Lyari Khadda Market building collapse and directed Deputy Commissioner South and rescue officials to conduct immediate operations. He also sought a report from the Sindh Building Control Authority and the Deputy Commissioner regarding the incident.
