Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is set to launch the much-awaited ‘Apni Chat Apna Ghar’ scheme on August 14th. This groundbreaking initiative aims to provide affordable housing solutions to the people of Punjab. As a first step, model homes will be built to showcase the scheme’s vision. These homes will include living rooms as directed by the Chief Minister. To make the process easier, a toll-free number will be introduced for public inquiries.
The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will develop a dedicated online portal for the ‘Apni Chat Apna Ghar’ scheme. This will allow people to apply for the scheme conveniently from their homes. The scheme’s details can also be obtained from Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner offices.
Under this scheme, plot owners with plots ranging from 1 to 5 marlas can avail interest-free loans to build their homes. To ease the financial burden, the government will offer easy installment plans for loan repayment. Special provisions have been made for FATA beneficiaries, with 3 and 5 marla homes to be allotted in private schemes. These beneficiaries will have five years to pay back their home installments. The Punjab government will also provide subsidies to make homes more affordable in private schemes.
A total of 70,000 plot owners across Punjab will benefit from this scheme. Those with plots up to 5 marlas will be eligible for interest-free loans. These important decisions were approved in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The ‘Apni Chat Apna Ghar’ scheme is a significant step towards providing affordable housing to the people of Punjab.
