Airport Security Force (ASF) officially taken control of VIP lanes and Lane 2 at all airports across Pakistan, including Karachi. The transition removes the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) and private security companies from managing or securing these high-traffic lanes.
This decision comes in response to growing national airport security concerns. VIP lanes and Lane 2 are primarily used for the arrival and departure of ministers, foreign delegates, and other high-level personnel.
According to sources, ASF is now responsible for the complete security operations, access control, and surveillance of VIP movement areas. All previous security roles held by private firms or the Airports Authority terminated.
ASF is a paramilitary agency in the Ministry of Defence in Pakistan and its duty is to provide security to civil aviation infrastructure. The agency also applies the standards of international civil aviation security and this may include the surveillance, baggage checking as well as perimeter control.
The updated action is in line with the government acts previously carried out to phase out favorable VIP protocols at airports such as the decision to ban VIP amenities managed by FIA in 2018.
The change ensures centralised control, standard security checks, and consistent monitoring under ASF to strengthen VIP and foreign delegate travel security.
