Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended the jail term of former PM Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Captain (retd) Safdar in the Avenfield case.
Justice Miangul Hassan and Justice Athar Minallah gave the decision on the plea submitted by Nawaz Sharif and family in the Avenfield case. However, all three were also ordered to submit bail bonds of Rs 0.5 million each.
Yesterday, IHC Judge Athar Minallah revealed that the verdict on Sharif’s plea in Avenfield Case will be announced on Wednesday (today). He further added that even if National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor failed to conclude arguments a verdict will be announced.
Last month, IHC dismissed NAB’s plea to adjourn the hearing for 2 days of Nawaz Sharif’s petition against the Avenfield case. Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Athar Minallah were the IHC bench members who summoned that hearing. However, they also summoned the hearing today.
The Avenfield Reference verdict came against Nawaz Sharif and his family. The Accountability Court sentenced the imprisonment of 10, 7, and 1 year to Nawaz, Maryam, and Captain Safdar (retd) respectively. The court also fined Nawaz Sharif and Maryam 8 million and 2 million Pounds respectively. All three leaders later moved to Adiala Jail Rawalpindi.
