QUETTA: Balochistan Government will announce the provincial budget today in the assembly. CM Balochistan, Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, called the budget people-friendly.
The Finance Adviser to Chief Minister Balochistan, Ruqayya Saeed, will be presenting the provincial budget today. The total outlay of the budget is more than Rs.350 billion for the fiscal year 2018-19.
Sources in Balochistan government say that Rs.56.54 billion has been recommended for the education sector alone. Rs.38.09 billion for security and Rs19.41 billion for health has also been allotted in the budget. The deficit in the provincial budget is going to stand at Rs.60 billion.
Recommendations have been made for an increase of 10% in salaries of government employees. 7,000 new vacancies have also been requested in various public sectors as well.
Balochistan’s Budget was approved at a meeting of the provincial cabinet that was called in April. Balochistan CM Abdul Quddus Bizenjo presided over the meeting of provincial cabinet. The cabinet meeting decided the budget to be people-friendly with maximum amount of relief for the public.
The meeting had also approved sale of wheat stock within the food department under open market policy so that the stock could be saved from wastage. It would also provide relief for public in the month of Ramadan as well by selling the commodity cheaper.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Abdul Quddus Bizenjo had said that the government was trying to provide maximum relief to people in this fiscal year’s budget. The government is going to allocate sufficient funds to the education and health sectors.
Recently, CJP Saqib Nisar had commented on the bad situation of security and health in the province. The provincial budget, if implemented correctly, could be a really good move in favor of the people. Balochistan can set an example for the other provinces and the country itself. The move to allocate a big portion of the budget for education and health is praise worthy move.
