Benazir Bhutto Death Anniversary 2025: Holiday Announced, Security High at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh

The Sindh government and PPP leadership have completed all preparations for the 18th death anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on December 27, 2025. A public holiday is in place across the province, with the main commemorative rally set for the family mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Larkana.

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) holds its central ceremony at the Bhutto family mausoleum on Saturday. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and President Asif Ali Zardari will address a massive public gathering. They plan to discuss the “Charter of Democracy” and provincial rights. Workers from across Pakistan are reaching the site to pay their respects and offer special prayers.

Security and Public Safety Measures

More than 7,500 police officers have been deployed in the venue. The security teams have also installed walkthrough gates and CCTV cameras to have 24/7 security. There are also 21 fire brigade vehicles on stand-by and medical camps. The authorities have forbidden the use of bags of purse in the main arena to ensure the safety of all the people.

Karachi serves as the primary hub for travelers heading north. Local party chapters have set up “Sabeel” camps and reception desks. The Sindh government’s public holiday notification applies to all offices and schools. While government buildings remain closed, banks stay open to serve the public. Similar vigils and prayer sessions are taking place at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi, where the assassination occurred in 2007.
