Benazir Murder Case: SC rejects plea against police officers bail today


Supreme Court (SC) rejected the plea against the bail of police officers in the Benazir murder case.

In Benazir murder case, 2 police officers got bail. However, Supreme Court rejected the petition against police officers bail today. Justice Asif Saeed Khosa led two member bench heard the petition.

Earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also reached at the court. In addition, former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Farhatullah Babar, Mehreen Anwar Raja and other party leaders also came for the hearing.

In August 2017, Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi announced the decision in the Benazir murder case. In addition, it announced the 17 years imprisonment to Khurram Shahzad and City Police Officer (CPO) Saud Aziz.

On the other side, ATC also acquitted Aitzaz Shah, Sher Zaman, Abdul Rasheed, Rafaqat Hussain and Hasnain Gul in Benazir Bhutto murder case.

In addition, ATC also declared the former President of Pakistan, General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, absconder in this case. However, ATC named Musharraf in February 2011 in the case.
