In a significant development, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is gearing up to launch Mobile Registration Centers to expedite the registration process for eligible beneficiaries. These mobile units designed to reach out to individuals residing in remote areas of the country, where access to registration facilities has been challenging.
The Secretary of the Benazir Income Support Programme, Amer Ali Ahmad, reported that the initiative to introduce Mobile Registration Centers has made substantial progress since its commencement in August. It is now nearing its final stages, with 25 Mobile Vans poised to function as Mobile Registration Centers under the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER).
The primary goal of these mobile units is to extend registration services to individuals who have faced difficulties in accessing them. As part of this initiative, 19 Mobile Registration Centers will be establish in the remote regions of Balochistan, five in Sindh, and one in Islamabad.
Amer Ali Ahmad stated that the Mobile Registration service expected to become operational by November, a much-anticipated development that will greatly facilitate the registration of beneficiaries in far-flung areas across the nation.
It is noteworthy that BISP uses the National Socio-Economic Registry to identify deserving beneficiaries and enroll them in the program. What sets this initiative apart is the inclusion of people with special abilities and Transgenders in the program, marking a historic first in the country.
