Karachi: The body of Pakistani exchange student, Sabika Sheikh to reach Pakistan on early Wednesday. The 17 year old was a victim of Santa Fe High School shooting in US.
The shooting at Santa Fe High School in state of Texas, US, had claimed lives of 10 students. One of the students was an exchange student from Pakistan, Sabika Sheikh. Sabika was due to return to her country to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with her family. Instead a horrifying news of her death incident had been phoned home.
Her family who is still in disbelief could not come to terms with the news at first. The mother who was in so much shock she did not move just sitting beside her husband motionless. Her brother who told the news Sabika promised to spend Eid-ul-Fitr with him. Her father who looked like he had lost the spark of life in his eyes which were filled with tears of grief.
Sabika Sheikh’s body was to return to Pakistan, early Tuesday, around 4-6 am. However the plane that was carrying her body had delayed to early Wednesday morning. Sabika’s paternal uncle had announced that her funeral prayers will be held at Hakeem Saeed Ground near Bait-ul-Mukarram mosque. The teen is to be buried in Azeempura Graveyard in Shah Faisal Colony.
PM Khaqan Abbasi had visited the family of the deceased exchange student to express condolences. The Chief of PTI Imran Khan had also expressed his sympathies. PPP Chairperson, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also shown grief over the death of the exchange student.
The Santa Fe Highschool shooter, Dimitrios Pagourtzis had planned to kill his peers then take his own life. However; when the time came to take his own life, he could not go through with the process. The shooter has confessed to his crimes in court of law.
