Breast Cancer Awareness Pakistan: Samina Alvi Speaks For Awareness Campaign
She also stated that Pakistani media can play a great role in spreading the awareness as most citizens are relying on social media and television these days. This can educate the residents of the country in regards to the disease, and doctors and medical practitioners should also be invited in TV morning shows to create more awareness about breast cancer.
“Womenfolk should not be hesitant in getting themselves medically examined to timely detect the symptoms, doctors should be consulted immediately in case of any complication,” said Samina Alvi.
Dr Umar Aftab, who is the head of cancer awareness program, said that about 12 million women in the country could be at the risk of getting breast cancer.
The Pink Ribbon, which is a leading charity organization for the support of breast cancer patients, has named this October as PINKtober with the hashtag of #SaveThe9th as theme. It is considered as a pledge to support the greater cause of building Pakistan’s first dedicated breast cancer hospital to save every 9th Pakistani woman who is at high risk of developing breast cancer.
