Bushra Bibi, the wife of the PTI founder, was finally released from Adiala Jail after spending a total of nine months behind bars. Her release came after Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand signed her release order, and the legal formalities were swiftly completed. Following her release, she left through Gate No. 5 of Adiala Jail and headed straight to her residence in Bani Gala.
Earlier in the day, PTI lawyers had informed the media that Bushra Bibi’s release order was ready, and they were on their way to Adiala Jail to facilitate her release. The jail administration, following additional security measures outside the jail, carried out the legal process for her release.
PTI leader Mishal Yousafzai also confirmed that Bushra Bibi would walk free today. However, her release had faced delays the previous day due to the absence of Senior Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand and Special Judge Central No. 2 Humayun Dilawar, who were both on leave. This caused the release order in the Toshakhana Two case to be put on hold.
Bushra Bibi had been sentenced to 14 years in jail on January 31 in the Toshakhana case. Following her sentencing, she chose to surrender herself and was initially transferred to Bani Gala, which was declared a sub-jail by the Islamabad Commissioner, before eventually being taken to Adiala Jail.
With the Islamabad High Court suspending her sentence in the Toshakhana case, her release from the Toshakhana Two case was eagerly awaited. Now back home, Bushra Bibi has finally stepped out of prison, closing this chapter of her legal battle.
