Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law Captain (Retd) Safdar appeared at a party rally in Rawalpindi on Sunday.
Captain Retd Safdar is been wanted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) since the Avenfield properties reference verdict on Friday.
Local leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were leading a party rally on Liaquat Road when Captain (Retd) Safdar landed from a vehicle and joined them among cheers of supporters.
PML-N leaders Senator Chaudhry Tanveer and Malik Shakeel Awan, among others, were leading the PML (N) rally and brought Captain (Retd) Safdar into their fold.
Captain (Retd) Safdar said he is here to court arrest among his supporters. He added that the time has come to decide which the path the country has to tread.
A team of NAB officials, including police personnel, is present at Teeli Mohallah to arrest Captain (Retd) Safdar.
According to the sources, bureau plans to take Captain (Retd) Safdar to its office in Islamabad and later shift him to Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi after a medical check-up.
Moreover, NAB officials said Safdar is a convict and anyone assisting his evasion from the authorities can also be arrested.
Sources also said the Punjab Police high-ups have been instructed to assist the NAB team in their effort to arrest Captain Retd Safdar.
PML (N) supporters have surrounded Captain Retd Safdar to sustain his arrest by NAB officials. NAB along with police officials are still in struggle.
