Cavalry Ground Underpass in Lahore Eases Travel for DHA and Gulberg Residents

In a momentous event, the Cavalry Ground Underpass in Lahore officially inaugurated by Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday. This development is poise to bring significant benefits, particularly for the residents of Gulberg and Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in Lahore.

The completion and opening of the Cavalry Ground Underpass mark a milestone in simplifying commuting for DHA and Gulberg residents, as well as for individuals traveling between these prominent areas. The underpass, now operational, facilitates the smooth passage of approximately 200,000 vehicles daily, eliminating the need to navigate through three previously encountered signals.

During the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Naqvi underscored the forthcoming opening of the Ghora Chowk flyover on December 7. This initiative aims to make the route signal-free from Gulberg Centre Point to Defence Mor Lahore, further enhancing the convenience of travel for the public.

CM Naqvi commended the meticulous finishing of the Cavalry underpass, describing it as a magnificent achievement for the region. He emphasized the government’s dedicated efforts on crucial projects, including the Lahore and Rawalpindi Ring Roads and the Bund Road project, reassuring the public of swift project completion.

Expressing appreciation for the dedication of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) team and the contractor, Naqvi acknowledged their round-the-clock efforts, which led to the early completion of the Cavalry underpass.

Addressing environmental concerns, the Chief Minister urged citizens to stay indoors to reduce smog and minimize unnecessary outings. He highlighted the positive impact of environmental care, noting a recent reduction in smog levels over the last three days due to decreased traffic.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by the closure of the main road during construction, Naqvi emphasized the importance of the Cavalry underpass project for the community.

The event saw the presence of several provincial ministers, including Amir Mir, Azfar Ali Nasir, Ibrahim Hassan Murad, and Mansoor Qadir, along with key officials such as the Chief Secretary, Secretary Information, Secretary Housing, Commissioner Lahore, Deputy Commissioner Lahore, and others.

In a separate visit to the Bedian and Cavalry underpasses, Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi expressed dissatisfaction over the non-completion of the construction work on the Bedian road underpass side roads. During the visit, he sought an explanation for the delay, questioning why the work had not completed by the stipulated deadline of November 25.
