Chehlum Juloos 2024 Karachi: MA Jinnah Road Closed – Check Alternate Routes Now!

Karachi Traffic Police has implemented an extensive traffic diversion plan to ensure smooth traffic flow during Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (RA) Chehlum procession, taking place today (Monday). The procession, which will begin at Nishtar Park and conclude at Hussainian Iranian Imambargah, will traverse its traditional routes. As a result, MA Jinnah Road closed to all small and large vehicles from Guru Mandir to Tower as part of heightened security measures.

To maintain the procession’s security, only vehicles with authorized stickers displayed on their windscreens permitted to enter MA Jinnah Road. These vehicles can access the procession via Sharea Quaideen’s Society Light Signal, as confirmed by The News on Sunday. Additionally, the Sindh government has imposed a province-wide ban on pillion riding, including in Karachi, to prevent any potential incidents.

Alternative Routes Overview:

  • District Central: Commuters from Nazimabad can reach their destinations by taking Lasbela Chowk to Nishtar Road via Garden. Those coming from Liaquatabad can turn from Teen Hatti to Lasbela Chowk and head towards Central Jail (Martin Road). Travelers from Hassan Square to PP Chowrangi can use Kashmir Road to Society Light Signal and proceed via Jail Chowrangi Flyover.
  • District East: Citizens heading towards Naumaish from Sharea Faisal can take Kashmir Road and then proceed to Society Light Signal. Commuters from the Central Jail gate on Jamshed Road can use Guru Mandir, Bahadur Yar Jung Road, and Soldier Bazaar to reach MA Jinnah Road.
  • District South: Those traveling from Garden Zoo to MA Jinnah Road can take Anklesaria to Gul Plaza, then proceed to the Coast Guard and Holy Family Hospital. Heavy and commercial traffic from the Super Highway and Gulberg towards MA Jinnah Road diverted from Liaquatabad No 10 to Nazimabad Chowrangi No 2 via Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road, Shershah to Mauripur. Similarly, traffic heading to the city via the National Highway can use Sharea Faisal or Rashid Minhas Road.

The Karachi Traffic Police advises citizens to plan their routes accordingly to avoid congestion and ensure a safe commute.
