ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar asked whether Pervez Musharraf will appear in court today by 2pm or not.
Four-member bench head by CJP Nisar was hearing the case today at Supreme Court’s Lahore registry. The case is pertaining to rejection of nomination papers of Pervez Musharraf in 2013 elections. During the hearing today the Top Judge questioned whether the former army general will appear in court today or not.
CJP Nisar ordered the deputy attorney general to find out if Musharraf will appear before court or not. He also said that an update on the former president Musharraf should be given to the court as early as possible.
Yesterday the Chief Justice Pakistan had ordered the former army general to appear in court today by 2:00pm. He had said that failure to comply with court orders will result in court taking action against him. He also said that the court will also stop the scrutiny process of nomination papers filed by Pervez Musharraf.
Chief Justice Saqib Nisar said that the court hearing was supposed to be on 2:00pm but they will wait if Musharraf will appear.
Yesterday evening, All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Secretary-General Dr Amjad said its highly unlikely that Pervez Musharraf will return to Pakistan within 24 hours owing the inability to return to difficulty attaining flight tickets.
