Punjab Launches Free Cancer Treatment and Cardiac Surgeries Under Special Initiative

The Punjab government has launched a new CM Punjab special initiative card to help patients with cancer and heart disease. Those diagnosed will get free cancer treatment in Punjab and cardiac surgeries at no cost.

Eligible patients will receive a special card. Each card covers up to Rs1 million for treatment. The first phase will help 45,000 patients. Officials say this step will ease financial pressure on families.

The CM also ordered a plan for stroke and paralysis patients. She set 31 January 2026 as the deadline for opening the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha.

This initiative ensures access to free cancer treatment in Lahore and across Punjab. Experts say the free cancer treatment program, along with urban improvements, shows the government’s focus on public welfare and long-term healthcare support.
