CNG Stations to Shut Down Nationwide for 2 Months: Full Details Inside!

The Federal Ministry of Petroleum has made a big decision on gas load management for the upcoming winter season to keep households warm and ensure gas availability when demand is at its peak. This plan includes shutting down CNG stations across Pakistan in December and January, the coldest months of the year, leaving CNG users to find alternatives during this period.

The ministry has decided that industries, especially those that use gas to produce their electricity, will also face a gas cutoff from December 2024 to January 2025. This means businesses in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and other areas heavily relying on gas-powered captive power plants will have to shift to electricity supplied by power companies.

The main reason behind this decision is to keep domestic consumers, particularly households, safe from gas shortages as demand skyrockets during winter. By closing CNG stations and reducing gas for some industries, authorities hope to manage the gas supply better.

Sui Northern Gas Company Limited (SNGCL) has received the order to put this plan into action, meaning they’ll cut off CNG supplies and disconnect gas connections for CNG stations from December 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025.
