Cold Wave in Karachi to Last Until January 17

Karachi is experiencing a cold wave that is expected to continue until January 17, according to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz. The city has been facing chilly weather, with temperatures hovering between 9 to 10 degrees Celsius for the past several days. Today, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 24 to 25 degrees Celsius.

Sardar Sarfaraz also mentioned that strong winds are likely to sweep through the city after noon, further intensifying the chill. These conditions are anticipated to persist until January 17, providing Karachiites with a prolonged cold spell.

In addition to the cold weather, the meteorologist shared that after January 20, there is a possibility of rain in most parts of Balochistan. Furthermore, the upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan could witness rain and snowfall.

This weather has already caused significant disruptions across Pakistan. Train operations were severely impacted over the weekend, especially due to thick fog and extreme cold. The Karakoram Express, traveling from Lahore to Karachi, was delayed by seven hours, while the Business Express faced a delay of over seven and a half hours. Passengers faced major inconveniences as train services were disrupted, leaving many stranded in freezing conditions.

Residents of Karachi should brace for more cold weather in the coming days, and it’s advised to stay prepared for the ongoing cold wave.
