Contempt of Court Case: SC will indict Aamir Liaquat on September 27

Islamabad: The Supreme Court (SC) announced today that it will indict PTI MNA and anchorperson Aamir Liaquat in the contempt of court case.

Supreme Court will indict Aamir Liaquat in the contempt of court case on September 27. The court put contempt of court charge against him on the petitons of Najam Aziz Sethi, Independent Media Corporation (Pvt) Ltd, Mir Ibrahim-ur-Rehman, and Shahzeb Khanzada.

Aamir Liaquat is accused of flouting the restraining order in which he warned to keep away from defamatory campaigning.

During the hearing, Aamir Liaquat’s TV program videos were played in the court. However, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar remarked that are they here to get insulted. He further added that it is not a way to apologize after committing contempt.

CJP Saqib Nisar inquired the lawyer that if Aamir could remain MNA after the indictment, and he got reply in negative. Saqib Nisar rejected the unconditional apology letter and gave the indictment date for September 27.

In August, CJP Saqib Nisar issued show cause notice to Aamir Liaquat for contempt of court. He also remarked that such people should not be in Parliament. CJP was leading the three member bench against the TV anchor who won Pakistan Election 2018 from NA-245 Karachi.
