Cooking Oil Prices Reduced: Check Latest Rates

The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has announced a significant price reduction on essential commodities, including cooking oil and ghee, with prices slashed by 10% across Pakistan. This move comes as Pakistan’s inflation rate dropped to single digits, reaching a 34-month low of 9.6% in August 2024, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Cooking Oil Price Reduced: What Are the New Prices?

The recent price cut is a direct response to the declining inflation rate, with reductions ranging from Rs 8 to Rs 200 on over 800 items. Cooking oil and ghee, in particular, have seen a notable decrease in prices, making these essential kitchen staples more affordable for consumers.

Updated Prices at Utility Stores

The new pricing structure affects a wide range of products, including:

  • Cooking Oil & Ghee: Prices reduced by 10%
  • Other Essentials: Tea, soap, noodles, ketchup, tetra pack milk, powdered milk, spices, pickles, and toothpaste also benefit from price cuts.

This reduction is expected to provide much-needed relief to consumers, particularly as food and household essentials have been impacted by inflation in recent months.

Impact on the Economy

Pakistan’s inflation rate fell from 11.1% in July 2024 to 9.6% in August 2024, signaling a positive shift in the country’s economic condition. This marks a significant improvement compared to the same month last year when inflation surged to 27.4%.

Future of BISP Subsidy at Utility Stores

Alongside the price reductions, it was announced that the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) subsidy has been temporarily suspended at USC outlets. However, officials assure that the subsidy will be restored soon under a new framework, aimed at providing continuous support to low-income households.

With this price drop, USC has introduced a new strategy focusing on delivering top-quality products at affordable rates while improving customer service across its network.
