Islamabad: Accountability Court directed to announce joint verdict in remaining cases against the former PM and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif.
Accountability Court ordered to announce joint verdict against Nawaz Sharif in remaining corruption references. Earlier, Nawaz Sharif appeared before the court as Judge Arshad Malik resumed the hearing of Flagship and Al-Azizia references.
However, during the hearing, Khawaja Haris appealed Judge Arshad Malik to announce joint verdict against Nawaz Sharif filed by NAB. Accountability Court approved his request and directed to announce joint verdict against Nawaz Sharif. The hearing is also adjourned till August 27.
Amid the keep going hearing on August 15, the previous chief was conveyed to the court in an impenetrable SUV not at all like the hearing before that when he was conveyed to court. The announcements of investigative officer Mehboob Alam were recorded in the Al-Azizia reference amid the last hearing.
On August 7, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) transferred the two references to Accountability Court II. A two-part seat of the IHC, containing Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, requested the exchange of the cases on Nawaz’s supplication.
Nawaz’s lawful direction had documented an interest asking for the court to exchange the Al-Azizia and Flagship Investment references from the court of Accountability Judge-I Mohammad Bashir to another court.
The Avenfield Reference verdict came against Nawaz Sharif and his family. The Accountability Court sentenced the imprisonment of 10, 7, and 1 year to Nawaz, Maryam, and Captain Safdar (retd) respectively. The court also fined Nawaz Sharif and Maryam 8 million and 2 million Pounds respectively. All three leaders later moved to Adiala Jail Rawalpindi.
