As the festive season of Eidul Azha approaches, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has taken a significant step by reducing the fees for sacrificial animals entering the cattle market. This decision, made during a KMC general council meeting chaired by Mayor Murtaza Wahab and attended by Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad and Municipal Commissioner SM Afzal Zaidi, aims to facilitate the community during this religiously significant time.
The council has resolved to lower the fee for sacrificial animals, including cows, bulls, and camels, to Rs600 per animal, down from the previous Rs1,000. Similarly, the fee for goats and sheep has been reduced from Rs500 to Rs300 per animal, making it more affordable for individuals participating in the Eid rituals.
In addition to this, the council has also approved the collection of parking fees from valet services operating outside marriage halls, ensuring a streamlined approach to managing parking facilities during events.
During the meeting, a total of 13 resolutions were passed unanimously. These included congratulatory messages to prominent figures such as Asif Ali Zardari on his election as President of Pakistan, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on his election as Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, and Asifa Bhutto Zardari on her unopposed election as Member of National Assembly from NA-207 and her appointment as First Lady.
Furthermore, the council extended congratulations to Najmi Alam on his appointment as Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh and Mayor Wahab on his appointment as a spokesperson for the government of Sindh.
