Cyclone Alert for Karachi: PMD Confirms Rain Chances Despite Record Heat

Karachi residents are watching the skies as a new weather system moves towards the Arabian Sea. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said a cyclone forming over the Bay of Bengal is heading towards the Arabian Sea and may impact southeastern Sindh, lower Sindh, and coastal areas including Karachi.

The PMD reported that the system will enter the Arabian Sea near the Indian state of Gujarat. Despite the cyclone, Karachi will remain hot and humid. The current heatwave is likely to continue in most parts of Sindh.

Between September 29 and 30, light to moderate rain is predicted in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin, Sujawal, and Sanghar. On September 30, there might be cloud formation in the afternoon or evening following a hot day in Karachi.

The PMD forecast shows Karachi temperatures reaching 36°C today and up to 38°C tomorrow. Light rain is possible at a few locations in the city tomorrow. Other districts, including Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Badin, Sujawal, and Thatta, may also receive rain with chances of dust storms.

Residents are advised to stay updated on daily forecasts as the system moves closer to Sindh.
