Delegation of IMF to Tour NEPRA Headquarters Today to See Through Pakistan’s Power Sector
On Thursday, an International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation arrive at the headquarters of the headquarters of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to give it a tour. The IMF representative is currently in Pakistan to finalize a bailout package.
During the Pakistan visit, IMF delegation is scheduled to be briefed about the country’s power sector from the NEPRA officials.
The IMF delegation had reached Pakistan on November 6 and conducted technical talks with the country’s representatives from November 7-9. During these discussions, data which showed the country’s performance in various fields was presented.
The discussions are scheduled to continue till November 20. The amount that Pakistan is expected to seek from the International lender is approximately $6 billion.
On Wednesday, the Finance Minister of Pakistan, Asad Umar stated that the government was going to avail a bailout package for the 19th time and claimed that it was be the last bailout.
“We are going to take 19th IMF program. This would be the last IMF programme of Pakistan,” the finance minister said.
