The Sindh Health Department has officially terminated the services of 289 medical officers and doctors who were hired during the COVID-19 pandemic on short-term contracts.
According to a notification issued by the provincial health department, these healthcare professionals were appointed on 89-day contracts without the involvement of the Sindh Public Service Commission. Their termination is effective from June 30, 2025.
The terminated doctors were posted in key urban centers including Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, and Naushahro Feroze. The notification clarified that their services are no longer required by the department.
This move comes as part of the post-pandemic restructuring of healthcare staffing across Sindh. The decision affects frontline medical staff initially recruited to manage the surge in COVID-19 cases during the peak of the pandemic.
