Double decker bus Karachi service is back in the city after 50 years. The historic launch took place at a ceremony in the city, where Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah cut the ribbon.

Officials briefed Minister Memon on the buses’ features, seating capacity, and routes. Each trip accommodates hundreds of commuters daily, while fares range between Rs80 and Rs120. Authorities said the service will operate on a trial basis before rolling out additional routes.

Sindh has brought in 39 new modern buses, 5 of them are double-deckers and other 34 are electric buses which cost it approximately 3 billion rupees. The project will be joined to the Orange Line and the Green Line BRT and the commuters will be able to commute using the same transport card.

With this launch, Karachi takes a step toward efficient, modern, and accessible urban transport, setting the tone for 2026 improvements.
