Karachi’s transport system is getting a significant upgrade. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced the immediate launch of double decker bus in Karachi service. The new fleet, already at port, confirms the government’s commitment to expanding the Peoples Bus Service across every major road in Karachi and Hyderabad, regardless of political affiliation.
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon confirmed the arrival of a new, major fleet. This includes 50 electric buses and double-decker buses now docked at the Karachi Port. The goal is simple: run the Peoples Bus Service on every main thoroughfare in both Karachi and Hyderabad.
Mr. Memon stated the Chief Minister approved an order for 500 additional electric buses. New fleet expected to roll out next month. This massive expansion confirms that the city is moving toward a greener, more accessible transit system.
The minister acknowledged current issues during his address in the Sindh Assembly. Improving the traffic system remains vital. Authorities must review accidents on a case-by-case basis for necessary improvements. The government is actively seeking suggestions, even inviting the opposition to contribute ideas.
The government also aims to support private operators. They are prepared to provide loans to transporters for operating intra-city buses. The service, including the double decker bus in Karachi, will run on every major road, connecting all segments of the city without discrimination.
