On Monday, it was disclosed to the Islamabad High Court that Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, sister of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, has been issued a US visa. This visa enables her to visit her imprisoned sister in the United States.
Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is a citizen of Pakistan and is currently serving an 86-year prison term at the Federal Medical Centre in Texas, United States. She was found guilty by a federal court in New York in 2010 on various charges, including attempted murder.

As per reports, Additional Attorney General Munawar Iqbal Dogar apprised the court of this progress during a hearing related to the potential release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
According to Additional Attorney General Munawar Iqbal Dogar’s statement in court, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui and Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s American lawyer, Clive Smith, are scheduled to visit Dr. Aafia in prison from May 29 to May 31.
The court has directed the government to arrange an independent psychiatric evaluation for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui and share all related documents and information with her lawyer, Clive Smith. It has been further directed that such information should not be used for any purpose beyond the scope of the case. The hearing has been adjourned until June 30 for further proceedings.
