Economic Advisory Council: Imran Rasul quits EAC to support Atif Mian


Another Economic Advisory Council (EAC) member Imran Rasul resigned from his post.

The Economic Advisory Council member Imran Rasul quits in solidarity with Dr Atif Mian.

He revealed the decision through his Twitter account. Imran Rasul tweeted that he resigned from the EAC with the heavy heart. He said that the removal of Atif Mian in the circumstances is unacceptable for him. He further added that basing decisions on religious grounds is against his principles.

Imran Rasul said that he wish EAC and government good luck for their future. He further added that he’s willing to offer any advice or help that can improve economic policy development in Pakistan.

Earlier, PTI Senator, Faisal Javed tweeted that Dr Atif was asked to withdraw from the Economic Advisory Council which he accepted.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry also tweeted that the government asked Atif Mian to withdraw from the EAC appointment. He further added that their government wants to take all social classes and ulema and further move forward. He said that it is not better if appointment of any person causes differences.
