Islamabad: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) sent the foreign funding case against the PMLN to the probe committee.

ECP sent the funding case against PMLN to the investigative committee over the petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). However, PTI submitted the petition against PMLN and PPP over foreign funding. In addition, PTI also requested ECP to scrutinize party’s accounts and to refuse their electoral symbols for Pakistan Election 2018.

Fawad Chaudhry, the PTI spokesperson, welcomed the recent development and said that there were significant irregularities in the funding of both PPP and PMLN. He further added that Nawa Sharif utilized the platform of PMLN for money laundering.

Last year, PTI requested the apex court to announce PPP and PMLN as foreign funded parties. PTI believed that both parties allegedly received funds from the prohibited organizations.
