Islamabad: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will finalize the nomination papers scrutiny submitted by candidates for the election 2018.
ECP revealed that it will conclude the scrutiny of submitted nomination papers on Tuesday (today). Pakistan Election 2018 will be held on 25 July. Different political parties and independent candidates will try their fortune in the upcoming election. According to ECP, around 21,482 nomination papers submitted across Pakistan for the provincial and national assemblies. In addition, around 6,063 candidates will battle for the 342 national assembly seats. However, 15,419 submitted nomination papers for the provincial assembly seats.
According to the general election 2018 schedule, 22 June is the last day to appeal against the acceptance or rejection of the nomination papers. ECP will make the decision on appeals by June 27. In addition, it will reveal the final list of candidates on 28 June. Altaf Khan, ECP Spokesperson said that the date for nomination papers scrutiny will not extend. He further added that no proposal is under review in this matter.
The returning officers will conduct the nomination papers scrutiny for PTI chairman Imran Khan, Ex-Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and Ayesha Gulalai for NA-53 Islamabad constituency. However, 63 candidates submitted the nomination papers for this constituency.
